Basic Function:
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in cleaning and maintaining premises of commercial, industrial, or other establishments.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Assigns tasks to workers, and inspects completed work for conformance to standards.
  2. Issues supplies and equipment. Resolves workers' problems or refers matters to Operations Manager when appropriate.
  3. Reviews and approves employees' hours worked on time cards or time sheets.
  4. Submits requests for repair of cleaning equipment to Area Manager.
  5. Requisitions or purchases cleaning supplies and equipment. Keeps accurate records, i.e., inventory and maintenance logs. Controls inventory.
  6. Performs duties of workers supervised.
  7. Perform such other duties as assigned.

Supervisory

Responsibilities:
Directly supervises 5 to 25 employees in the Company. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

Educational Experience:
Two year degree; and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work flexible hours.

Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read and write in English. Ability to understand both written and oral instructions in
English. Three years janitorial/maintenance experience. Two years previous managerial experience. Bilingual ability a plus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
